The Anambra State Police Command has said the
policeman that shot and killed a young man on Saturday at Agulu, Anaocha
Local Government Area has been arrested.
The state Police
Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, said in Awka, on
Sunday, that the policeman would face an administrative trial on Monday.
He added that the policeman would be dismissed from service and prosecuted if indicted by the administrative trial.
The reaction of the police came as violent protest continued at Agulu on Sunday to protest the killing.
The
policeman was said to have shot the deceased, who had intervened to
settle a rift between the policeman and a driver over an issue related
to the non-remittance of a tip of N20 to the policeman at a check point.
Arguments between the policeman and the deceased was said to have heated up after the driver escaped.
The policeman was said to have shot the deceased in the heat of the argument.
